The invention relates to a disengageable drive mechanism for a rotating ring gear driven by a stepper mechanism. The mechanism according to the invention is characterised in that the said stepper drive mechanism 4 is mounted on a lever 5 pivoting about an axis 6 which is parallel to the axis of pivoting of the ring gear 1, the said lever 5 being subjected to a load 7 applying the stepper drive mechanism 4 against the ring gear 1.
