AN IMPROVED REFRIGERANT COMPRESSOR

A refrigerant compressor which includes a suction valve (38A) and valve plate (30A). The suction plate has a recess (1A) which is formed in its surface facing pistons (26A) and has approximately the same shape and depth as the suction valve (38A), which is received in the recess during compression. Compressor efficiency is enhanced since dead space around the border of the suction valve is minimized.
