It comprises, between the joining part (12) and the tube or pipe (11), a packing (13) made from an elastomeric material capable of considerably or very considerably increasing in volume when it is brought into contact with water or with moisture, the said packing being shaped and dimensioned in such a way that it can easily be attached to the joining part (12) in its non-operational condition, whilst in its operational condition it has a portion compressed between the said joining part and the tube or pipe to which is associated a means forming a radial stop, the said compressed portion simultaneously retaining the tube or pipe on the joining part and making the coupling device leaktight.
