The invention relates to a busbar system consisting of an insulating body which is in the form of a rail, has electrical conductors arranged on it and has one or more adapters which are in sliding contact with the electrical conductors, the adapters being arranged such that they can pivot in the radial direction and can be displaced in the axial direction in the region of the busbar, and electrical equipment being connected to the adapters, characterised in that the electrical conductors are arranged in the internal profile of the busbar, slots which lead radially outwards opening into the external circumference of the busbar like longitudinal grooves, and in that a slipring (which is matched to the profile of the busbar) is arranged on the busbar such that it can be displaced axially, acts on the electrical conductors in each case by means of sliding contacts in the slots in the busbar and has on its circumference sliprings associated with the sliding contacts, it being possible to fit the adapter onto the pick-off ring and at the same time for it to be electrically conductively connected to the sliprings of the pick-off ring via contact elements. In the case of the invention, the equipment, especially lamp bodies, can be rotated through 360@ at will about the busbar without the electrical power being interrupted, and, furthermore, the electrical conductors are arranged in such a manner that any risk of injury as a result of touching the electrical conductors can be precluded.
