This game unit is characterised in that it includes a batch of integrated circuit cards 1 containing information relating to general layouts (subjects) of a game (game themes) which cannot be perceived by a player, and a reader 2 of integrated circuit cards, which is adapted to receive at least one integrated circuit card in a housing 3 in which at least one part of one face of the card is accessible at least visually to the player, and including means 2a for connection of the integrated circuits of the card to the rest of the reader and interface means between the circuits of the card and the rest of the reader, the said unit also including means 4 for displaying information relating to a general layout (subject) of a game (game theme) contained in the integrated circuits of the card, and in that it includes means 5 for the player to input data relating to the progress of the game, that part of the face of the integrated circuit card which is accessible bearing visual information 6, 7 which can be perceived by the player, relating to the general layout (subject) of the game (game theme), and associated with functions allocated to the data-input means. <IMAGE>
