There is described a bone plate which has a flexible, bendable, elongated and rod-shaped section whose opposite ends are provided with fastening sections. A fastening section can be produced by forging or by another suitable flattening procedure. The bone plate may be provided with fastening sections of different shapes and orientations. Other embodiments comprise a large number of alternately arranged rod sections and fastening sections. The bone plate comprises a material which can be three-dimensionally bent, turned or otherwise shaped into a predetermined contour and can withstand predetermined loads in the bent shape. It can thus maintain stable fastening of bone sections at a fracture site.
