Improved apparatus is provided for melting and dispensing hot-melt materials such as adhesives and sealants. The apparatus includes a heated cylindrical platen (51) which cooperates with a cylindrical container or drum (20) to melt and dispense material contained therein. An annular drum extender flange (10) enables the apparatus to be used with drums which are completely filled with hot-melt material.
