The bypass filter is for fine oil filtration in a diesel engine in particular, its housing accommodating an element of filter paper wound onto a perforated cardboard sleeve. Its removable cover has a spigot protruding into the central part of the housing. - The perforations in the sleeve (3) consist of round holes (2), the top and bottom rows of them being clear by any amt. equal to four times their dia. of the top and bottom sleeve ends. The spigot (6) on the cover (5) has an annular bead (7) or groove, by which it fits inside the sleeve.
