A strong-acid cation-exchange resin is produced by contacting a cation-exchange resin in an acid form with an N-(2-mercaptoalkyl) amide of formula (I) in the presence of water, and partially neutralizing its cation-exchange capacity with an amino alkanethiol at 80-110≦̸C. In (I), R, Ra, Rb, Rd and Re are each H or alkyl. The produced cation-exchange resin is used as a catalyst for the production of bisphenol-A. |
