Compounds of the formula <CHEM> wherein X is an anion selected from the group consisting of phosphate. borate and molybdate groups, and a method for making these compounds. The compounds are useful in the control of microorganisms in aqueous systems and in the inhibition of corrosion of metal surfaces in contact with aqueous systems.
