A filter is proposed, for liquids, in particular, in which filter the medium to be filtered is passed under pressure through at least one porous filter element. This is composed of a ceramic filter disc arranged on a tube, which filter disc is liquid-permeable but collects and retains substances to be filtered off in its pores. In the filter disc seat area, the tube is provided with through holes for the passage of the filtered medium. By means of spacer discs which are furnished with a ring collar on the axial side facing the filter disc, the filter disc is held radially at a distance from the outer periphery of the tube where an annular collection space for the filtered medium is formed, which medium is conducted off through the tube at least towards one tube end. The filter can be backwashed in the counter-flow direction. To clean off the peripheral surface of each filter disc, the tube containing the filter discs can be rotated via a rotary drive, scraper fingers fixed to the housing scraping off the outer surfaces of the at least one filter disc.
