Said system has following characteristics: A steering spindle (2) is connected to the threaded spindle (4) of a steering gear (5) through a rotary shift valve (6). Said rotary shift valve (6) controls the pressure admission of the working piston (15) of a hydraulic power-assistance device. The input shaft (20) of an electromotor (21) is linked to the rotary distributor (7) of the rotary shift valve (6). When the steering spindle (2) rotates, the electromotor (21) is controlled by a sensor (22) in such a way as to generate a counter-force applied to the rotary distributor (7), which counteracts the rotary movement of the steering spindle (2). Moreover, after the steering spindle (2) has stopped rotating, the rotary distributor (7) is moved back into its neutral position by the electromotor (21) when the manual steering wheel is released.
