The device consists of a linear actuator (40) with a perforated strip driven by a gear (58) and by a reduction motor (64), which form a linear translation unit when combined with a carriage (38) comprising elastically suspended bearing blocks sliding on guide rods (39) mounted on a sheet metal support (63, 43) secured to the linear actuator. The linear translation units (93, 95) are assembled to form a manipulator secured to a frame (92). It co-operates with folded sheet metal carriages (100) mounted on elastically suspended rollers (101) and sliding on folded sheet metal rails (103).
