The charging apparatus on a conveying section (1) in the form of a finite or endless cable or chain conveyor for articles of clothing hanging on coat-hangers has a motor-driven turnstile (3) having a plurality of radial arms (4) with receptacles (5) for coat-hangers (2), and the said turnstile (3) is assigned, at a circulating point, a feed section (6) and a singling device (7), and the said turnstile (3) runs synchronously with the chain or cable conveyor (1) and, on a circulating section for individual transfer of articles of clothing on a driver (8) of the chain or cable conveyor (1), runs ahead of the said driver (8).
