SEMIPERMEABLE NERVE GUIDANCE CHANNELS

A severed nerve is regenerated using a device consisting of (A) a tublar, semipermeable membrance (ME) provided with openings to receive the ends of a severed nerve, (B) at least, elongated trabeculae inside the ME as passageway for capillary ingrowth, (C) a porous outer ME surface allowing capillary ingrowth into (B), and (D) a semipermeable inner ME surface. The tubular ME serves as protective guidance channel for the regeneration of the nerve.
