Tension device for the variable-speed cables in a transport system of the funicular type, composed of a series of movable members which travel along a loop-shaped path 1 and in which the movable members are connected to one another by means of two variable-speed cables 4 separated by a bogie 3, which bogie causes the variation in displacement speed of the said movable members 2, which movable members are moreover connected intermittently to a second hauling cable which ensures the movement of all the movable members on the said loop. This device comprises at least one winder 6 with elastic return, interposed between the anchorage of the variable-speed cable 4 on the movable member 2 and the adjacent movable member drawn by this same variable-speed cable 4. This tension device with a winder 6 makes it possible to eliminate the harmful consequences of the polygonal effect on bends and in changes of level of the track. <IMAGE>
