Exhaust line for a spark ignition internal combustion engine

In a device for the mixing of exhaust gas flows of a spark-ignition internal combustion engine, in which the exhaust gas flows from individual groups of cylinders are fed separately to a mixing line, it is proposed that the mixing line be designed so that it is resistant to the generation of noise due to vibrations and in addition so that it can be as short as possible by virtue of a thorough mixing characteristic. In order to obtain such an exhaust gas mixing line, two separate pipes, provided with longitudinal recesses, are welded together over plane formed-on surface areas. Guide vane-like tubular shell areas, each respectively drawn into the inside of its own pipe, are located inside the opening between the pipes welded together. The said areas provide for a deflection of the exhaust gas flows from one pipe into the other respectively. A turbulent flow simultaneously occurring in the process also helps to ensure a good thorough mixing of the exhaust gas flows. Such a thorough mixing is necessary for relevant determination of the exhaust residual oxygen content in spark-ignition internal combustion engines with regulated exhaust emission control.
