The invention relates to a pipe coupling which connects pipes with smooth pipe ends in an operationally reliable manner and in accordance with high requirements, with a low degree of assembly outlay. It comprises two coupling halves with a seal and clamping elements located therein, which are connected by means of screws. The pipe coupling is connected to the pipes, which are to be connected, by the clamping elements with seal, when the pipe-coupling halves are screwed together, as a result of the wedging action thereof.
