The invention relates to an electric sauna stove which has one or more electrical resistors 10 for heating of the area in which the stove is located and an evaporator 1-9 for the generation of steam in the stove location area, which evaporator has a steam generation chamber 4 and one or more electrical resistors 9 for evaporation of the water in the steam generation chamber 4. In order to achieve effective evaporation without the use of high coupling effects for the evaporation resistance, the electric sauna stove has thermostatic control means 5, which, depending upon the temperature of the steam generation chamber, either switch on the current to the water's evaporation resistor 9 and keep the valve 3 which regulates the water supply to the steam generation chamber 4 closed, or switch off the current to the water's evaporation resistor 9 and open the valve 3 which regulates the water supply to the steam generation chamber 4. <IMAGE>
