The invention relates to a drug-release device which comprises a biocompatible porous body which is filled with a drug. The porous body is produced in particular from calcined calcium phosphate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, chitin, chitosan or derivatives thereof. Implantation or injection into an artery of such a drug release device has a detectable curative effect in affected parts of the living body without irritation occurring. The continuous release of the drug from calcium hydroxyapatite (HAP) particles to affected parts of the body and the blocking of the surrounding capillary vessels leading into the affected parts have a remarkable tumour-inhibiting effect.
