A device is described for heating food and/or drinks, having at least one heating plate unit which has at least one electrical heating segment, on which a tray can be deposited which accommodates the food and/or drink, the special feature being that a reed contact is connected in series with the heating resistor of each heating segment, which reed contact can be switched by a magnet arranged in the tray.
