Thread-tapping tool - delivers coolant into chamber behind chuck for discharge via chuck slots on central drilling

The thread-tapping tool comprises a body with shank secured in the mounting on the machine which accommodates the tap in a chuck. An extraction body forms a toolholder between body and chuck, and is subject to the action of feed and return springs, so as to control tapping automatically on insertion in the work. The cooling fluid is delivered at the side of the body (1) and via an annular passage (11) into a cylindrical chamber at the end of the tap (4) behind the chuck (3). From there it passes out through the chuck slots or via a central drilling (14) through the tap to the machining point. ADVANTAGE - The coolant pressure has no effect on the tap, thus avoiding and inaccuracy in the thread cut.
