<p>An arrangement for controlling an A.C. voltage supplied to a load, such as a fluorescent lamp emitting germicidal ultraviolet radiation in a water-purifying apparatus. The load is connected to the secondary winding of a transformer, the primary winding of which has a number of taps which are selectively connectable to an exterior A.C. voltage source. An electronic control device is arranged in dependence on the magnitude of the terminal voltage of the exterior A.C. voltage source to automatically connect that tap which causes the voltage applied to the load to be of a predetermined value.</p> |
