A face milling cutting tool comprising a cutter body (1) having a working end face (5) and a plurality of cutting tips (8) mounted on the end face (5), each cutting tip being so tangentially mounted that a front clearance face thereof leaves an axial relief angle relative to the surface of a workpiece being machined , characterised in that said cutting tip (8) is of substantially flat shape with at least one cutting edge of convexly curved shape and has at one part of its periphery surface a rake surface, a long dimension of the tip being set in the direction in which the principal cutting force acts, each cutting tip being so mounted that the radial rake angle of said curved cutting edge is of a large negative valul. |
