A novel process for preparing a naphthalene derivative of the formula: (I) wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are a lower alkyl group, and an intermediate thereof is disclosed. Said naphthalene derivative (I) and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof are useful as a hypolipidemic agent.
