The submerged pump has a motor fixed by flange (2) to its housing (3), which contains a rotary impeller (4). The shaft works in mechanical slipring-type seals, the lower one of which (7) is in contact with the liquid handled, while the upper one seals the housing off from the stator chamber. A guide (1) between flange and housing delivers barrier fluid to the lower seal, owing the seal housing end face as far as the impeller hub. USE/ADVANTAGE - Submerged pump can handle liquid presenting problems from the sealing point of view.
