The invention relates to the processing of the images of a cinematographic film Fo with the aid of an installation comprising heads N0, N1,...Ni for digitising the images of this film, and of each other film F1, ... whose images are to be combined with those of the said film, a central computing unit CPUc effecting the desired processing on the images in the digitised state, an imager IMA recomposing, from each digital image resulting from the processing, an optical image which is transferred to a virgin cinematographic film F, and a control unit CPUcom ensuring the management of the operation of the various devices of the installation. <IMAGE>
