The device of the invention can be used as an accessory for a machine tool. It essentially consists of a longitudinal supporting structure which can be connected at the side of a machine tool, and a carriage (saddle) 4 sliding under the supporting structure and carrying, by means of an arm 23, a stop piece 22 above a support table 28. According to the invention, the supporting structure of the device comprises, between two end cheeks 8, 9, a length of section 7 having a base 10, two lateral wings 11, 12 pointing downwards and, between them, a median structure 13 intended to support the carriage (saddle) 4.
