The apparatus comprises a cassette holder for storing a tape cassette. Brackets for storing the cassette holder are equipped with guide holes for guiding the cassette holder from one position to another and with bearing portions. The cassette holder driver includes a gear for driving the holder along the guide holes. A gear has a number of rotated portions upon receiving the driving force from a source. A base is equipped with support shafts for supporting the gears and with a fitting position reference hole. A transmission device transmits the rotating force of the gears to the cassette holder driver.
