The engine intake system comprises two inlet valves per cylinder. An inlet bend contains a partition forming two inlet passages, there being a hole in the latter near the valves through which the air or mixture flows when one passage is shut off. When extended, the axis of the partition (8) intersects those (4a) of both inlet valves (4). The partition can be at right angles to these axes. ADVANTAGE - Improved torque in lower part of speed range.
