The invention relates to DC motor which is derived from AC motors and in which the main coiling consists of two coils 1 and 2, coupled in series and mounted on the same magnetic circuit 4, their midpoint 3 being connected to one of the supply terminals 10. The other two ends of the coils 1 and 2 are connected to a pair of complementary switches 6 paced by a clock 7. These switches alternately connect the ends of the coiling 1-2 to the other pole of the supply 10. The whole functions in the manner of a DC-DC converter, a system in which the coils 1 and 2 serve as primary, the rotor 5 acting as the secondary of the transformer of the converter. If the motor is of the two-phase type, the second coil 8 can be attached, via the phase-shifting capacitor 9, to the terminals of the coiling 1-2. <IMAGE>
