The invention relates to novel 9α-hydroxy-3-oxo-4,24(25)-stigmastadien-26-oic acid derivatives of general formula (I), wherein M stands for hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable cation. Further the invention relates to a process for preparing these compounds. The new compounds of general formula (I) exert anti-hypercholesteremic effect.
