This prosthesis comprises a humeral element having a spherical head 2 which is capped by a hemispherical cup 4 by means of which it fits in a complementary receiving cavity 50 formed in the glenoid element 5, and the latter has a female profile 6 of dovetail shape adapted to be fixed by downward engagement onto the scapular process situated in proximity to the natural glenoid cavity. <IMAGE>
