A conveyor belt is made up of sections joined together and passing over rollers; it is held by guides which engage projecting bosses on the edges but allow the belt to move. Each guide consists of a claw-section cross-piece fitting over where it matches the section of the bosses but with some play and hence allowing the bosses to slide across it; underneath the belt there is a supporting surface for the belt to slide over. The bosses are pref. made of a strip of polyester or polyurethane.
