A food package (12, 72) and a blank (10, 70) for forming same are disclosed which has particular use in microwave ovens for heating food products, such as french fries. The package has spaced-apart front and back walls, opposed sidewalls, and opposed top and bottom walls all joined together along adjacent peripheral edges thereof to form a box. The front wall includes spaced-apart lines of perforation (52) to provide a tear-open flap (54). At least one of the walls has spaced-part vent openings formed therein. In one embodiment, knock-outs (76) close the vent openings (74) and in another embodiment a tear-off strip (44) covers the vent openings (42). A microwave receptor pad (62, 80) is located inside the box for absorbing microwave radiation to heat the box contents. |
