Cinnamic acid esters of the general formula I in which the dotted bond represents a single or double bond and the substituents have the following meanings: R<1> is hydrogen or fluorine, R<2> is halogen, R<3> is hydrogen, halogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R<4> is hydrogen, optionally substituted C1-C6-alkyl, C3-C6-alkenyl, C3-C6-alkynyl or benzyl, and X is oxygen or sulphur, preparation process, and agents containing them.
