Steam or hot-water boiler for recovering heat from flue gases or process gases. The boiler comprises a convection part 12, in which water and/or steam tubes 18 are fitted, an upper chamber 14, a lower chamber 16 and a gas flue 20. The upper and lower chambers comprise side walls 24, 44, upper gables 26, 48 and lower gables 28, 46. The upper chamber's lower gable 28 is basically plane and horizontal. The lower chamber's upper gable 48 is correspondingly basically plane and horizontal. The water and/or steam tubes 18 are basically straight and vertical, and fixed in the basically horizontal gables 28, 48. <IMAGE>
