The ring for a traveller, in a ring spinning or twisting machine, has a radial flange over the web of the ring, with an axial recess on the side away from the path of the traveller at the outer side of the flange. The recess at this point on the flange tapers to the opening size of the traveller. ADVANTAGE - The traveller does not have to be spread open when fitting to the ring, so that travellers of very hard materials can be used with melting points above 1500 deg.C..
