Face grinding disc tool - has replaceable grinding disc with backing disc having plastics rods

The face grinding wheel consists of a stiff backing plate (10) and a replaceable grinding disc (14). The backing plate has a central shaft (11) and mounting screw (18). On the face of the backing plate are small mushroom headed plastics rods (12) which key onto the joining surface (15) of the grinding disc (14). The surface has a nap derived from a chain of looped thread which is laid on a laminated fabric carrier disc (13). Cemented to the carrier disc is a grinding ring of laminated construction. The grinding disc overlaps the backing plate to enable the outer edge to be used for grinding into corners. - The grinding disc may be secured by a central nut (20) but this is not essential because the shear force is easily sustained by the joint interface.
