The present invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the feed and for heating of molten metal, which comprises an MHD (magneto-hydrodynamic) centrifugal transporting pump 1 installed in a metal body, in which there is a working chamber 4 coaxial with the latter communicating with a reservoir 2 with molten metal and actuated by a magnetic field induced by a magnetic system. The cylindrical working chamber 4 is connected to a receptacle 11 by means of a tapping-off pipe 8 for draining off the molten metal and a connecting pipe 7, an orifice in the body of the cylindrical working chamber 4, through which the tapping-off pipe 8 for draining off the molten metal is connected to the cylindrical working chamber 4, which is offset from the central longitudinal axis of the said chamber 4 by a distance greater than that of the orifice in the cylindrical working chamber 4, through which the cylindrical working chamber 4 is connected to the connecting pipe 7 and the internal space of the receptacle 11 is split by a divider into two communicating spaces, one of the two spaces being joined to the outlet ends of the tapping-off pipe 8 for draining off the molten metal and of the connecting tube 7. A direct current (DC) power supply 17 is connected between the tapping-off pipe 8 and the molten metal in the reservoir 2. The present invention is applicable, for example, in the metallurgical industry.
