The invention concerns a method of erecting a tent comprising frame sections (1) each one of which consists of a pair of leg members (2) and roof beams (3) extending between said leg members (2), said frame sections (1) being interconnected by means of longitudinal beams (6-11). In accordance with the method, a number of frame sections (1) are placed in spaced-apart positions with the leg members (2) abutting against a support (4) and with the roof beams (3) directed obliquely upwards to a height at the most approximately one meter above the support (4). The frame sections (1) are hingedly interconnected with the longitudinal beams (3), a canvas cloth (18) is pulled over the interconnected frame construction, and the latter is raised in such a manner that the frame sections assume a vertical position. The frame construction is locked in this position. The invention also concerns a device to be used in applying the method. The device comprises a stretching means (13), such as a winch, which is arranged at the bottom of the frame construction, on a frame section (1) or a longitudinal beam (6). A wire (14) runs in the direction of inclination of the frame sections (1) between the stretching means (13) and a point of attachment (15) which is positioned at a higher level than the stretching means (13) on an adjacent frame section (1) or a juxtaposed longitudinal beam (8). The stretching means (13) is arranged to raise the frame sections (1) to the vertical positions thereof when a pulling force is exerted on the wire (14). |
