The switch appts. has an isolated earth switch (3) which can be used for application of test voltages. An insulating ring (13) is inserted between the housing (6) of the earth switch (3) and the metal encapsulation (1), with an embedded conductor (14) having an integral terminal tag (15) coupled to the switch pin (5). The insulating ring (13) is enclosed by an outer metal support ring (12) of similar height having a radial opening for passage of the terminal tag (15). The earth switch housing (6) is secured to the switch appts. encapsulation (1) via fixing elements passing through the support ring (12) between a pair of cooperating fixing flanges (7,8).
