Aq. binder dispersion (I) for paints, etc., comprises 0.5-50 wt.% phenolic resin precondensate (II), 20-70 wt.% of a dispersion of condensation-crosslinkable copolymer (III) of (meth)acrylic esters and other comonomers with cross-linking gps., etc., and 10-70 wt.% of a dispersion of grafted rubber (IV) based on a diene polymer and a copolymer of styrene, acrylonitrile, and 1-6C alkyl (meth)acrylate (amts. refer to solid content of total II + III + IV). (II) is made in dispersion (III), dispersion (IV), or a mixt. thereof; particles of base diene polymer in (IV) are enlarged by agglomeration before grafting.
