A sealing strip 14 provides a sealing lip 38 which is mounted on an air-tight hollow chamber 36 having two relatively rigid sides stiffened by a metal carrier 32. The third side is a relatively flexible wall 34. Expansion of the chamber 36 by air pressure pushes the flexible wall 34 outwardly so that leg 40 pivots the lip 38 out of engagement with the window glass 8 as shown. In this configuration, a further chamber 46 can be expanded by air pressure so that a wiper 44 mounted on the flexible wall 40 moves into contact with the face of the window glass 8. As the window glass is raised or lowered, the wiper 44 removes moisture and prevents smearing. Partial evacuation of the chambers 36 and 46 retracts the flexible wall 34, thus pulling the lip 38 into sealing engagement with the window glass 8, and also causes the wiper 44 to move out of contact with the glass.
