A mono-stalbe multivibrator having a phase control function for a video tape recorder comprises a pad (PAD) connected to a loading resistor (RL) and a capacitor (C1), a switching unit (1) for controlling the charging and discharging of the capacitor by an input signal (IN), an emitter coupled comparator (2) having bipolar transistors (Q1,Q2) to compare the charging voltage with a reference voltage, an interface unit (3) having an output stage connected to a crrent source (4) having NMOS transistors (M3,M4) to convert the output from the comparator into a CMOS logic level and a clamp unit (5) connected between the units (1) and (2) and for preventing the over-charging of the capacitor, thereby reducing unnecessary power loss.
