The invention relates to a load-bearing wall element 1 and a method for the formation of a load bearing corner- stone from wall elements. The wall element 1 comprises a metal shell 8, 3 and an insulation part 4, 9 joined to the shell 8, 3. According to the invention the shell 8, 3 is formed from vertical C-shaped cassettes 8, 3, which are designed to open out towards the outer wall. The C- shaped cassettes 3 in the element located outermost at the corner are narrower than the other C-shaped cassettes 8 and are made from a thicker material than the latter, the profile depth of the said cassettes 3 located outermost at the corner being less than the corresponding depth of the other cassettes 8, in order to allow a fire protection plate 5 to be fitted on the inside of the cassette 3. <IMAGE>
