The method is used in the production of filters for purifying drinking water and other fluids. The prepared ceramic bodies have many and small open pores evenly distributed in their volume. The method includes the preparation of a forming mixture, which is a suspension of pearlite powder, water glass and water. The cavity of a forming tool for filtration forming is filled with the mixture, a gas is supplied under pressure, then the prepared body is solidified through carbon dioxide or a water solution of acids or acidic salts forming with the water glass easily water-soluble salts. The ceramic body is removed the forming tool, thermo treated and washed with water.
