<p>An A.C. power source adapted to supply alternating current electrical power with a net flow of current in a predetermined direction over a plurality of cycles of the alternating power is supplied to a discharge tube. The direction of the net flow of current is reversed after a selected or predetermined period of time. Impurities in the tube are selectively occluded by the electrodes in the tube.</p> |
