Aq. prepns. contg. dissolved ozone are new. The solns. contain clathrate forming substances. The solns. are physiological infusion solns., esp. dextran solns. or dextrin or starch solns. The aq. ozone prepns. can be prepd. by bubbling an oxygen ozone mixt. through an aq. soln. USE/ADVANTAGE - The aq. ozone prepns. are suitable for therapeutic (intravenous ozone therapy) and hygienic (e.g. algicidal, bactericidal, fungicidal, sporicidal, parasiticidal and viricidal) purposes. The solns. do not have the disadvantages associated with prepns. previously used in ozone therapy as they contain ozone itself (not a reaction prod. of ozone) and the smallest possible amt. of gaseous oxygen as the ozone is selectively dissolved. The solns. are suitable for ozone therapy for circulatory disorders and viral diseases. In an example, in order to achieve an ozone conc. of 10 micro g/ml soln., a phosphate buffer soln. of pH 6.9 (0.023 mol Na2HPO4, 0.042 mol NaH2PO4) was treated for 10 min. at room temp. with an ozone/oxygen mixt. contg. 60 micro g/ml ozone. The amt. of soln. was 200 ml (height of water column 15 cm). For a dextran soln. (m. wt. 40000, 10%) the ozoning time was 5 min. A standard dose of 1000 micro g ozone per treatment required 100 ml of an ozone infusion soln. of ozone concn. 10 micro g/ml.
