A cable harness (1), partic. for the wiring of electrical auxiliaries in motor vehicles, is made up of a number of individual conductors or cables (A) together with their connectors, plugs, etc. The main core (2) of the harness (1) is enclosed by a moulded envelope of paper or other cellulose based material applied as a paste similar to papier-mache and strengthened by suitable fibre inclusion if required. Branches (3,4,5,6) of the harness carrying plug connectors (7,8,9,10) are wrapped using paper strips or sheets and the whole is impregnated, bonded, coloured etc. with readily degradable materials. USE/ADVANTAGE - Vehicle mfr. where pre-formed wiring harnesses facilitate assembly. Provides easily burnt off or strippable envelope enabling copper reclaimation by recycling plants with min. harm to environment when vehicle is scrapped. Mfg. costs of original harness are reduced since old or re-cycled paper can be used.
